DCI Offers Cash Reward for Information Leading to Capture of Escaped Murder Suspect Collins Jumaisi

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is seeking public assistance to re-arrest Collins Jumaisi, the primary suspect in the Kware killings, who escaped from custody on Tuesday. In a notice issued on Thursday, August 22, the DCI announced a "significant cash reward" for anyone who provides credible information leading to Jumaisi's capture.

Jumaisi hails from Shiru sub-location, Shaviringa location, in Hamisi sub-county, Vihiga County. The public is urged to report any information about his whereabouts confidentially via the #FichuakwaDCI hotline at 0800722203, or through the police hotlines 999, 911, and 112, or at any police station across the country.

Jumaisi was one of 13 suspects who broke out of the Gigiri Police Station on the morning of Tuesday, August 20. The other 12 escapees were Eritrean nationals. Speaking to the press, acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli revealed that preliminary investigations suggest that the escape was facilitated by insiders.

As a result, eight police officers, including the Gigiri Sub-County Police Commander and the Officer Commanding Station (OCS), have been interdicted. Masengeli emphasized that officers were appropriately stationed to guard the facility, indicating possible internal collusion in the escape.
