KATA Statement on Flight Disruptions Across Major Airports in Kenya

The Kenya Association of Travel Agents (KATA) has confirmed that operations at all major airports in Kenya have been severely affected this morning due to an unanticipated industrial action by aviation workers.

Inquiries with major airlines operating out of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and other airports indicate that flights have been grounded as essential ground services are unavailable.

As a result, both domestic and international flights are expected to be either canceled or significantly delayed for an indefinite period. KATA strongly urges travel agents to immediately reach out to their clients and inform them of the situation before they head to the airport.

KATA will continue to closely monitor the situation and provide updates as more details emerge.

Meanwhile, KATA is calling on the Kenya Aviation Workers Union (KAWU) and the Government to urgently resolve the standoff in order to ease the burden on affected passengers.
